TE KAAHU honours the craft and skill of Māori songwriting and storytelling and is the brainchild of celebrated Aotearoa, NZ singer and songwriter Theia (Waikato-Tainui, Ngāti Tīpa).

TE KAAHU’s debut album ‘Te Kaahu O Rangi’ was awarded the prestigious Taite Prize for Best Independent Debut in 2023 and was a finalist in the recent Rolling Stone NZ Awards for 'Best Album' and 'Best New Artist'.

Other notable accolades: nominations in the 2022 Waiata Māori Music Awards for 'Best Reo Māori Album'; the 2022 APRA Silver Scroll Maioha Awards; the 2022 AMAs for 'Best Alternative Album' and five nominations in the 2022 Student Radio Network Awards.

TE KAAHU transforms into a mesmirising live act with Theia's exquisite vocals front and centre. Shows and festivals where TE KAAHU has performed include The Others Ways (NZ), CubaDupa (NZ), Big Sound (Australia),  The Small Halls Tour  (NZ), Calgary Folk Music Festival (Canada), Folk on the Rocks (Canada), the Hamilton Arts Festival (NZ) and the recent GIRL IN A SAVAGE WORLD TOUR.
